WWE have confirmed that Dean Ambrose will not be remaining with WWE after April this year, sending out the following comment to the media:
“Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE”
UPDATE: WWE Have put the following statement on their Twitter account:
As previously reported by Dave Meltzer of The a Wrestling Observer Newsletter, (despite him now walking back on his very clear statements last week) Ronda Rousey is likely going to walk away from WWE after Wrestlemania 35. Whether this is for good or just for a break we don’t yet know. But as was said it is well know Ronda wants to leave to start a family.
Ronda commented on the speculation this week during an interview with ESPN where she stated
“I’ve not kept it a secret that I would definitely want to start a family, but how do you go about doing that? I love this way more than I thought that I would. So do you just keep going until you just happen to get pregnant? Or should you stop and go try and get pregnant? Or is going and trying to get pregnant putting yourself on the spot and then you’re less likely to get pregnant? I’ve never had a baby before, I don’t know these kinds of things.
It would be kind of cool to just keep acting and then one day, ‘Hey, surprise twist, I’m pregnant.’ That would be fun. There’s a lot of things up in the air. A lot of decisions that we’ve gotta make as a family. I’m trying to figure it out as I go along.”
She was also very critical of people who have been attacking her desire to leave to start a family. Stating that other people do not get a say over her having a baby.
She said to ESPN “I really don’t feel like I should have to respond to that kind of thing. It’s my vagina, my life, keep the speculations to yourself“
It’s not yet known if she does intend to leave after Wrestlemania as she did not actually address this directly but it is clear from her comments that she has got some intention of walking away soon.
The Wrestling Observer and Dave Meltzer are reporting that Ronda Rousey will most likely be done with WWE as of Wrestlemania 35.
It has been no secret that Ronda only intended to be in WWE for a limited time as she has very publicly made it known that she wishes to start up a family with her husband very shortly and settle down into a quieter life.
If this report is correct then it would seem that the planned Becky Lynch v Ronda match at Mania will likely be Ronda putting Becky over as her parting gift – something which i’m sure would go over HUGE with the fans at mania.
When Ronda joined WWE she vowed to give it her all and has been a huge success for the WWE both inside and outside of the ring. Ronda surprised a lot of people by carrying out a close to full-time schedule with the company, performing at some house shows, international tours and appearing on the majority of PPV’s.
This is not to say that Ronda would be severing her ties with the company entirely as she has not had any issues within the WWE and so would likely always have an open door to return should she want to for one off runs.
Of course, as Meltzer has noted, Vince McMahon is known to try and make surprises and changes around Wrestlemania season and i’m sure he would like to be able to do that with Ronda here and have her stay on for longer if he can.
This week has since big news in terms of contracts both inside and outside of WWE including the details of Chris Jericho’s VERY lucrative AEW deal. Now news is breaking within the WWE of 4 superstars who have asked for their release from the company this week due to how they have been used on the shows in the recent weeks and months.
We cover this, news on Kevin Owens return date and also why Braun is out of the Royal Rumble match with Lesnar and being replaced by Finn Balor.
WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler has this week signed a new two-year contract with WWE. He claims that his contract was set to end on January 10th and that he sent Kevin Dunn a text on January 8th with a reminder. He was then given his two year extension plus a raise.
Lawler also says that he will be at the Royal Rumble event on January 27th where he will be calling the mens Royal Rumble match alongside JBL and Michael Cole. Although this is not confirmed Lawler says that this is what will likely be the case.
King was also seen on Raw this week leaving Vince McMahon’s office. Raw came from Memphis Tennessee, an area in which Lawler is a walking legend and so they were easily able to garner their cheap pop.
