WWE Legend “Mean” Gene Okerlund Passes Away

WWE Hall of Famer “Mean” Gene Okerlund has passed away at the age of 76.

Gene is perhaps the most famous wrestling interviewer of all-time, having been involved in some of the most prominent wrestling segments in the 1980’s and 90’s.

Mean Gene is perhaps most recognisable through his famous interviews with Hulk Hogan, spawning the famous phrase “Well you know something Mean Gene!”

Gene was a staple of wrestling TV in the 80’s and 90’s making the jump to WCW in 1993 where he continued to be the most prominent interviewer in wrestling. He was later welcomed back to WWE at Wrestlemania 17 alongside counterpart Bobby Heenan to call the Gimmick Battle Royal.

Okerlund was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006 and been a part of WWE programming sporadically ever since.

He will be remembered fondly by Wrestling fans throughout the world. We send our condolences to Gene’s family and friends at this time and look back at some of his most memorable moments.
